Chicago's Magnificent Mile Lights Festival!
Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Lights Festival is right around the corner! If you have never been here to see it, you need to at least once! There is so much to see the entire weekend, and I am here to break it down for you. The first time I went I had an itinerary, and my boyfriend was laughing at me, but we had the best time!!
The fun starts on Friday, November 17, with the tree lighting at Millennium Park. The festivities start at 6 pm when they light up the 62 foot Norway Spruce. Holiday music will be brought to you from the cast members from the Goodman Theatre’s , A Christmas Carol, country music trio; Temecula Road and the Oakdale Christian Academy Choir.
Millenium Park, also knows as cloud gate, is home to the famous ‘Bean’. There is also an ice skating rink with skate rental available on premise.
Walk just a few blocks down to Pioneer Park on Michigan Avenue and you can enjoy live music, pictures with Santa Claus and samples from some of Chicago’s favorites like; Connie’s Pizza, Garrett’s Popcorn, Eli’s Cheesecake and more!
Saturday, November 18th is the big day! Not only is it the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, it is Mickey Mouse’s 89th Birthday! We are so glad he chose Chicago to celebrate!
The parade kicks off at 5:30 pm. at Oak street and Michigan avenue and concludes at the Chicago bridge with a spectacular fireworks show at 6:55 pm. There are a lot of street closures starting as early as 3:30 pm., so you want to be sure to get in position early.
Want to see the parade without being out in the cold? The Westin Michigan Avenue is offering front row seats from their ballroom with a purchase of a guest room.
If you are driving into the city, I found using the app ‘Spot Hero’ is the best value. If it is your first time using it, use the code ‘MAGMILE17’ for 10% off.
There is so much to see on this weekend, it is fun to make an entire weekend of it! One of my favorite past times is looking at the windows at Macy’s. There is so much joy in the air.
If you have any questions or want hotel or restaurant recommendations feel free to ask! This really kicks off the Christmas season for me. What are you favorite things to do that put you in the holiday spirit?
